The township site for Abermain was surveyed.

Father McAuliff supplied a teacher for the new Catholic School at Abermain and Kurri Kurri. Sr Marcellius Treacey and Sr Rita Gallagher were first staff appointed to Abermain School.

Sunday June 28 a new Church/School was blessed and opened at Abermain by Bishop P. Dwyer.

The sisters travelled from Cessnock each day on horse drawn bus.

July 6th – Abermain enrolment 85.

Kurri/Abermain was separated from the Parish of Cessnock and Father Hugh Cullen was in charge of the Parish.

School continued to be run by the sisters of St Joseph with consistent enrolments each year.

Alteration to the Church-School included an Altar and an infants classroom.

School name recorded as “St Francis Xavier’s Church School.

Schools combine – Kurri campus became St. Joseph’s Primary School and Abermain became St. Joseph’s Infants School.

The new school of Abermain was officially blessed by Bishop Toohey on 30th March.

Abermain convent closed and the sisters moved to Kurri Kurri.

Sr. Damian Harrison appointed Principal.

First Lay Principal appointed – Mrs Jo Gossage.

Parish purchased a demountable for Abermain school.

Mrs Nola Bennett appointed Principal.

Schools at Kurri Kurri and Abermain changed name to Holy Spirit –

In line with our Parish.

Awnings and shadecover erected

Playground improvements

Connected to internet

New amenities block completed

Computer network installed

Establishment Technology Lab

Additional shade areas

Establishment of Satellite Class on Campus – Autism Australia

Retirement of Mrs Nola Bennett as Principal

Mr John Armstrong appointed as Acting Principal

Mrs Niamh Marzol appointed as Principal

Demolition and commencement of new school building project – John Killalea Building Company.  Peter McMullen - Architect

Term 3 Moved into new school.  IOSP Grant provided air conditioning and smartboard technology.

IOSPX grant provided playground equipment.

3rd July Official Opening and Blessing of new school facilities and Centenary celebrations.

BER Grant provided funds to rebuild the school canteen/store area and refurbish the hall annex.  John Killalea Building Company – Peter McMullen Architect.

Official opening of canteen, hall annex, fencing and cola extension. (BER/P21 funding).

Mrs Marie Butel-Simoes appointed as principal.

Mrs Charlene Reid appointed as principal.

New Year 2 classroom infill completed

New staff toilets and flexible learning hubs completed

Playground improvements

OOSH provider - Sherpa Kids, commences 2018 Term 3
